Social Media Marketing Application Affiliates

Facebook, Myspace and other social media websites have started to allow developers to produce games and other engaging software to allow interaction between users. Many of these applications are monetized with affiliate offers. There are two main ways that they drive traffic. One is through simple banner adverts. The other is that they make the user earn points to use the application and in order to get points the user has to complete an affiliate offer which could be to buy an affiliate merchant’s product.

Some of this traffic has been criticised for being of low in quality. However, with the growth of social media and its penetration of different social demographics you could see this as a potentially growing field in affiliate marketing.
