Networking Witches Interview:

Meet Joie Betterly, who is representing her blog and her blogging partner, Rose Green. They believe that “Blogging IS the new advertising.” With their product reviews they add their own Mommy humor as well as well written descriptions.

Tell me about your Blog?

Our blog Networking Witches stems from two moms wanting to save money and help others.  By giving honest reviews we hope that it will help families to purchase items that will benefit them while not wasting money on trial and error.  We also think that we must reach out to our readers so that they know we are moms with families just like them.

What was your first blog?

My first blog was on Xanga and still is. On Xanga we post money savings tips and articles.  Many of which can be found on our reviews and giveaway blog as well. Many of our articles have been feature in Xanga and their affiliates.

What is the biggest tip you would give to product reviewers?

Be honest.  If you don’t like the item you can email the sponsor or you can post a completely statistical post that lays out the facts.
Are you contacted by advertisers or do you contact them or both?

Both.  We work hard to approach companies that need press because they have a great item but need advertising they can afford. We have been approached in the last week by companies that want to host a review and giveaway because the holidays are coming and they need to have their product seen.
What is your favorite product that you have reviewed?

I don’t have a favorite.  We have such a wide variety of sponsors that it makes it hard to pick just one favorite.
What do advertisers do that you wish they wouldn’t/ do that you like?

Some companies do not have or supply art and they do not welcome us to use images from their site.  This hurts them because we can not beautify their post thus giving potential customers less to look at.

What do bloggers do that you wish they wouldn’t/do that you like?

Every blogger is different and has a different style of writing and listing.  It does bother me when bloggers say/do bad things about their sponsors. I also think it is poor taste on their part to whine that they weren’t supplied enough product or that the sponsor was stingy.
What advertiser would you like to work with given a chance?

I have many I would like to work with.  I really like working with small companies that are trying to get their name out there.  Many of the companies are “mom” companies and lack the funds for advertising.  I like working with clever moms with clever new products.

Where do you see growth in the blogging field?

The biggest growth I see in the blogging field is women and I say women because I haven’t spotted any dads but women selling products they’ve made.  People are taking advantage of their talents and using their blog as a shout out.

What is one thing about you that not many people know?

Networking Witches has nothing to do with witch craft.  Rose and I are both Christian moms.  We consider our selves fairly intelligent but were still ripped off by a virtual world we worked for for 18 months without getting paid.

What’s your favorite book?

My favorite book is The Message.  It’s a Bible translated into every day language.

What is on your iPod?

The Rosary, Beatles, Guns & Roses, Harry Connick Jr., Journey, Pink

What is one thing people can do for you?

At the moment we are searching for a blog designer and they seem to be in short supply, but in general we love button swaps and we are always looking for mom friends to swap information with and to share whats going on in our lives.
