Tell me about your Company?

Tempero is Europe’s largest Social Media Management company moderating millions of messages each month 24/7 in 10+ languages. With our team of 97 police checked UK based community experts we manage UGC & Social Media projects for clients such as the BBC, Channel 4, Marks & Spencers, Disney, Hachette Fillipachi, Haynet, British Airways, Orange and many more.

We have a variety of moderation models to suit all needs and we work with over 60 platforms on a daily basis so can help advise on technology too.

What was your first experience of social media?

I used be New Manager at EMI at a time when Netscape was king and an animated gif was genius. Bulletin boards for our artists were the bulk of our UGC comms at the time.

What is the biggest tip you would give to a newbie in social media?

Only do it if you can offer something to your audience and that audience can give something back – either to you or each other.

What do advertisers do that you wish they wouldn’t?

Controlling the message is now impossible. Ignoring that fact is social media suicide.

What do bloggers do that you wish they wouldn’t?

Hmmm, tough one. I don’t think you can lump all bloggers into one pot as you have professionals and life casters. You can’t judge them in the same way.

Where do you see growth in the social media field?

Customer service, admin technology and research/analytics.

What new ideas are advertisers coming up with to take advantage of new trends?

Embracing the fact that the audience can market for you. Finally.

What do you do to improve the world?

Be nice. It’s not hard so why can’t some people manage it!

What do you do that is green?

Not as much as I should.

What is one thing about you that not many people know?

One of my best friends at School had the initials M.C Daborn. I’m D.J. Sparkes. We never made it to Ibiza.

What’s your favorite book?

Perfume by Patrick Suskind

What is on your iPod?

Too much Pink Floyd. If that’s possible.

What are your contact details (email, company, blog, facebook, myspace, forums, etc)?

[email protected]

www.tempero.co.uk

What events do you go to?

Facebook Dev Garage, the odd Mash Up, anything interesting and not too networky.

How do you prefer to communicate?

In person.

Who would you recommend, and why?

An ever changing list but for today…

The team at Tempero – bloody great

Anthony Cauchi – my best man and founder of Outside Line – a genuinely innovative agency

Ewan MacLeod – the happiest man in Social Media

Darika Ahrens – Our PR & Marketing guru. Even more of a new tech loon than me

Lee Bryant @ Headshift for the quote “Call centre’s are a very expensive way of making your customers hate you.”

What is one thing people can do for you?

See answer for improving the world.
