Tell me about your Blog?

Infobarrel is a shared revenue web site, where anybody can sign up and contribute content. The idea is that every person has some sort of knowledge they can share. Users receive 75% of the Google Adsense ad impressions generated by their content, ultimately give writers the opportunity to build a passive income stream without having to worry about the logistics behind running a web site (hosting, marketing, etc)

http://www.infobarrel.com currently has over 1500 writers contributing content and has been growing exponentially since its inception. We are always looking for more writers, so if anybody out there is interested you can feel free to signup at http://www.infobarrel.com/signup.php

What was your first blog?

My first blog post on Infobarrel was The History of Racquetball (http://www.infobarrel.com/The_History_Of_Racquetball). In terms of web sites and blogs, my first ever web site was http://www.medialunchbox.com which I ran back in 2001 through 2005. My first actual blog was a personal blog which I started writing back in 2004, it has since been shut down.

What is the biggest tip you would give to a newbie blogger?

Write about something you love, if you write about things that don’t interest you, you are bound to fail. Aside from that, set small short term goals that you can easily achieve. Without the sense of accomplishing something you will most likely give up.

What do advertisers do that you wish they wouldn’t?

This is more geared towards lead based advertisers, it frustrates me when they temporarily shut down their program, forcing affiliates to redirect all their links.

What do bloggers do that you wish they wouldn’t?

It irritates me when I see bloggers selling text links and excessively trading reciprocal links. They wind up burning themselves in the long run because they are breaking Google Webmaster TOS.

Where do you see growth in the blogging field?

I think the most potential for blogs lies in amazing content. While basic content was great for getting search engine traffic in the past, I think amazing mind blowing content is what will give people a competetive edge in the future and allow them to attract more high end advertisers.

What new ideas are advertisers coming up with to take advantage of new trends?

I think many companies are just beginning to realize the value behind viral/social media. If you can leverage the massive potential behind social media, you can really get the word out about your product/services.

What do you do to improve the world?

I try to do volunteer work for numerous organizations. One that is close to me, is raising money for Huntington’s Disease. My sister was diagnosed with it at twelve years old and I try to do whatever I can to raise money to help research. One of our future goals with Infobarrel is to use the platform to raise money for a number of charities.

What do you do that is green?

Our company is currently in the process of attempting to convert a Dodge Neon into a fully electric car. If the process is reasonable, we may offer to provide conversions for similar cars in the future. We are also active in researching alternative energy sources and how we can implement them within our community.

What is one thing about you that not many people know?

Well, I mentioned it earlier, I have a very sick sister who is now 14 years old. She was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease two years ago. We have different fathers, so I am not at risk but its not something I’ve revealed to many people.

What’s your favourite book?

The Wealthy Barber

What is on your iPod?

A mix of hip hop, rock and country music. A little bit of everything depending on what mood I’m in.
